Hey guys, I'm taking the family to the beach next week and I wondered if anyone knew if the state park pier had reopened? I had heard that it was damaged last year right after it opened and they had to make repairs. Also, is there anyone catching anything down there now? Thanks

I appreciate the video, but after they opened the pier in July of '09, another hurricane hit a couple of months later and "rearranged" their "hurricane proof" decking and rails. I was wondering if they had repaired since then.

It re-opened shortly after the tropical storm hit. The pier's ooden planks have been specifically designed to "pop" out when strong waves hit them. This keeps the waves from bringing down the entire structure. Whiting (ground mullet) and sheadshead are very fun for the family. All you neen is some dead shrimp and a bottom rig for the whiting. The sheapshead prefer smaller live shrimp but will take dead shrimp when spawning...which is right about now. Good luck and be safe!
