We've gone out at night a couple times without any luck. Been using a spotlight shined up to where the flooded out portion of the light just barely gives you some light to work with. I've read that that has worked for people but it's pretty hard on the eyes.

Anybody hunted at night with red lights? I've read it's easier on your eyes and yotes and other critters are somewhat attracted to it out of curiosity I guess?

I did see some show where some guys were coon huntin with a red light and they were just walkin right up within 15-20 ft of the guys.

Rumor is that coyotes can't see red light, but I don't know. I know some guys that pile dead chickens up in the pasture, crawl up on the chicken house roof with night vision, sub sonic ammo, and suppressors, and wear em out. I always wanted to hang a red light with a motion sensor, then put some bait under it. In my experience most hand held spotlights with red filters are too much trouble and don't shine very far. There are some high dollar gun mountable lights that might be better.

ND-3 Subzero is the expensive light. Cables sells them.

Thanks. The hand held spotlight I've been using has a red filter and like you said it just doesn't put out much light. Looks like I need to lay down some $$$ if I want to go that route.

Ive got a red light that can either mount on a scope or rail. I can see clearly thru my scope to shoot in the dead of night 150 yards or so. Ill look tonight and see what brand it is. Also have a buddy that uses night vision and or red light when he hunts. He just left to go back overseas but will be home in a few weeks so im excited to see how the night vision works compared to my red light. My next step is going to be baiting with something just havnt decided what yet. If only i knew some people in the chicken biz!

I've got a couple ringnecks in the freezer I think I'll use for bait next time.

Let me know what brand that light you have is. I appreciate it.

You will need a red filter on your light.
