Remington model 7 Predator in .243, Nikon 4.5x14-40mm coyote special. Not real happy with the scope, the BDC circles are too big. The big game BDC is better IMO.

556 with 55gr HP, 4-12x40bdc Nikon. But it's hard for that to top the Rem 700SPS tac 223 55gr Hornady Vmax with 6-18x40 BDC on it.

Remington 870 w/full choke
3" #4's or 00 buck
Homemade squealer

You do miss a lot of shots that a rifle would afford -
but it sure gets exciting when they come within range.

I'm looking to get a cheap coyote gun. Something like the savage axis or ruger american in .223.

Anybody have any experience with these? Or any other suggestions?

I'd spend a little more money if it was me. If you don't want to break the bank, hit the pawn shops and find a good used rem 700, model 7, ruger m77, etc.

I've got the Ruger American in a 30-06 and like it a lot. For that price range, i think its better than the savage.

Is the trigger on the ruger adjustable?

And I probably will check out the pawn shops first

I also like the .243 better. Mainly because I can shoot 55 grn bullets at yotes, or drop in some 90/100 grn stuff for my wife/boys to shoot deer with. Can't legally do that with a .223, .22-250, etc.
