Just wanted to put out some information and see if there is anyone on this site that would be interested in getting in on the NWTF Conservation Seed Program.
Through the Morgan County NWTF chapter, we have recently gotten hooked up with those guys to try and offer a warehousing facility for the seed sold through their conservation program. Right now they offer RR Corn, RR Soybeans, milo, sunflowers, and winter wheat (fall). RR Corn is generally $7/ 50#bag, the rest generally runs around $5/ 50# bag. Corn is limited to 5 bags/person, the rest is for the most part is unlimited.
In order to participate:
1) You must be a current member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. (~$30 annually)
2) Must sign a conservation seed program agreement. This says you will plant the seed only for wildlife; it's not legal to harvest the seed.
For the most part, that's about it. If anyone thinks they may be interested in getting in on the program, shoot me a pm and let me know. I'll fill you in on the rest of the details. I'm looking to get a general estimate as to what is wanted by the first of the year. RR Corn and Soybeans has to be purchased in at least 1/2 trailer truck load (400 bags), so we need to find out if we have people committed to purchase the seed, before the NWTF Chapter purchases it.
Thanks.
