Forum rules

This is pretty wide open, but there are just a few rules.

1) This is NOT a place to sell calls or dekes. This is just to share your work and discuss techniques - and get feedback.

2) If you post up a piece of work, and it gets made fun of - not our problem. When you post a piece for critique you better be able to handle negative comments. If you can't handle negative remarks - don't post.

3) IF you make 20 duck calls, please don't add 20 topics in the same day. Put all 20 in one topic. Now if you make some more next week, feel free to add a new post.

THANKS AND HAVE FUN!

Okay so the last dog portrait I posted wasn't great but I learned a lot from it. Jwattsmojo was cool enough to give me a chance to do a portrait of his dog Mojo. I applied the stuff I learned from the last one and the input from some of you guys on here and this one turned out much better. I'm usually pretty critical of myself but I am overall pretty happy with this one! And I learned a lot on it as well. Let me know what you guys think!

Here's what he sent me:

And the drawing:

Awesome! Two things really draw me into the picture.
1.The dogs eyes.As he holds that bird you can see in his eyes the struggles that he went through to retrive that duck.

2.How dead that duck is.What I'm saying is that the duck actualy looks lifeless.Just hanging there, not stiff and "planky" looking.

Awesome job man

You nailed it. That's fine work. It'll be a shame if you don't enter in the state duck stamp contest one day

How much you want to do that darn black dog in the picture in my avatar? 8)

Very well done!! The eyes look like the dog is looking up at its owner hoping to receive a pat on the head for a job well done. You really nailed it!

Very nice. You did a good job of adding highlights to a dark photo. Very clean lines as well.
You should be proud of that picture.

Thanks guys! I've got two more drawings to do for people and then I'm going to try to learn how to paint so I'm booked for the next few months. Especially with hunting season coming up. Maybe after the first of the year I will have time to do more of these portraits!

Mojo looks good! You ever draw scenery? Like a blind , decoys on the water, etc?

No it would take me forever with pencils. Once I start painting I will. You can do stuff like that much faster with paint.
