Just got back from South Dakota pheasant and grouse hunting ...
Got some birds wanting to mount and I have how I want the bases to look in my head vs buying a prebuilt one... Also have some special things I want to add

Any pointers or advice ?
Will the natural grass / vegetation hold up if you spray it with clear laquer?

I have made a few and it all depends on how they will be mounted if you are going to mount them where they will be sitting on floor or piece of furniture build a box using what ever you like I use barn wood find a piece of foam to cut to fit in side u can use spray glue or mod podge and put dirt or sand mix on it for the grasses poke a hole in foam hot glue grasses together at base and stick in holes u can put small rocks around them to hide holes ur more dirt and sand.really depends how they are mounted..good luck
