I've killed turkeys with one good spur and a nub, but this morning was a first for me. Killed a gobbler with a full fan, 9.5" beard, and a white head but absolutely zero spurs. Guessing he's 3 judging by waddles, head size, and head color, although I usually judge age by spurs. Anyone ever run across one like this?

Yep, we took 2 off our place last year with no Spurs, a friend of mine just killed one a few days ago that had been whooping everything on his place and he didn't have any either.

It is genetic. You will likely kill others in the future on that land that will have the same issue.

Interesting. Been hunting that property (130 acres) for 20 years and haven't seen or killed another one like it. I have seen birds with one spur plus a nub but never as small as this gobbler. Hopefully it skips a bunch of generations so I won't come across another for a while.

I have killed 2 gobblers with completely slick legs
killed 1 with little bitty bumps
All three had at least a 9" beard and a full fan.
