I was just wondering about when the rut should start in Marshall, Dekalb, and Blount counties?

I hunt almost entirely in Blount county and I have seen zero sign of the rut so far, I shot a small buck this afternoon and he was not showing any signs of it. Depending on where you hunt it will be different. For example bucks in the Bankhead National forest are in full blown rut right now where as bucks where I normally hunt in north Blount county usually dont start really swinging until the middle of January. Hope this helps

It depends on the weather and the rut the year before and all kinds of factors. Normally January.

Yep, the last 4 good deer I have shot up here have been on the 21st-23rd of Jan ( a 7, 2-8's and a 10). It has been that way here for 25 yrs. Just now starting to see a little rubbing and small scrapes, right on schedule. They usually establish their core areas the week of Christmas. Find them now, hunt them in Jan.
Always the week of the last full moon in January.
