Band is worn very thin with no legible numbers. Trying to decide now if I will send it in for etching or not.

Guntersville still has plenty of ducks for those willing to do the work.

Yea, I actually shot a limit alone this morning, including a big hen with him. I think I will mount him and her together, him wearing his jewelry

Dear Lord that is an absolute stud! Even without the band that's a mounter. I'm jealous, that's my last species I need to harvest to finish up with all the common AL species. Congrats on a prime bird, I'd love to know his banding info if you do decide to get it etched.

I'm just so scared something will happen to it if I get it etched, its as thin as a coke can...
They told me today that the band was over 10years old.

As big a proponent as I am of always reporting bands, if it were me in this case, as Duckinator said, I'd probably hold off on having it etched. When they get super thin like that there's a good chance of destroying it. It's good you still contacted the BBL though, information can still be gained from the bird (it's a fair assumption this bird spent some time in the salt as degraded as the band is - another vote for a switch to stainless bands on certain species).

Send that bird to Shane, Blake, Stan, etc.... Coming in cupped up preparing to land with the banded foot barely dragging some waves in a habitat scene would be unreal. Then again I like to go over the top with stuffed ducks 8)

That is sweet. Never killed a banded Redhead. Killed a banded ringneck with a worn band. One of my favorites. Mount that baby and DON'T send it off. That's the beauty of it and the mystery of how old he may be. Congrats!

Very nice bird. Congratulations on the band as well. Should look great mounted wherever you decide to put it. Redhead and a Pintail are the two I really want to get.
