Well this is my first post. But I was excited about finally killing a banded duck that I couldn't resist.

I was hunting a pond on our hunting lease by myself opening weekend and was able to kill a few woodies and even lucked out and killed 2 teals. I don't have a dog yet so I had to go get them. I waded out to the first one and to my surprise it was banded! I was fired up at this point. I walked on over to the second teal and couldn't believe what I saw. This one too was banded! I've duck hunted on and off for years, but I am really switching over to it now from deer hunting. These are my first two bands!

I'm hopin he caught the sarcasm when I told him I hoped he had pics of the birds. It does sound mighty lucky to be a newb and hit 2 banded ducks on the same hunt so soon

Ha noob? Nope not so much. Just never been as dedicated to solely duck hunting as I am now. It's always been secondary to deer hunting.

Unfortunately/fortunately I'm picking up a full body bobcat mount in a week and a half, so for a while no more mounts for me. My ol man took pictures so I'll have to get them from him over Christmas. But thanks for the trust guys haha.

Don't take it too personal man. It's the Internet after all. We've all learned to take things with a grain of salt unless we see proof. Congratulations on the bands. That'll be a hunt that you'll never forget regardless if there's pics or not

It's a shame it didn't line up where you could have had one or both of the teal incorporated into the bobcat mount. A big bobcat flushing two banded teal in a habitat scene would make for a pretty awesome mount (done by the right taxidermist).

What did the band information say after you called it in? The BBL will email the certificates to you now (they don't mail them out anymore :| - just get some high quality paper and print it out). I'm interested to see if they were banded together or if it's just a coincidence (happens quite often). Congrats

No worries buddy! I know how it goes on these forums. Heck I've been one of the "pictures or it didn't happen" guys on the sport fishing forum. It was definitely a memorable hunt.

Ebay?

One was banded in Iowa and the other was in Ohio. Funny they originated in areas so far apart.
