I've done some research on flotation pods, and the consensus seems to be that this isn't an overly simple install. That the boat determines what angle they should be welded on, and not to just install them flush with the boat/water. That being said, does anyone know if this is true and if so, is there anyone relatively local that has experience installing these?

I had em on my last boat. I got em from cabelas and they came with instructions on where and how to install em. I took my boat to a local welding shop and got the pods put on, it was very simple. Hope this helps!

Do y'all have any links to the flotation pods? I have seen the ones from Beavertail on the Cabelas website what other ones are there?

I ordered mine from boyds welding in fl. You send them the angle of your transom and they send them to you ready to weld on. All the ones ive seen and mine are high enough above the bottom of the boat for the welder to get a good bead in.

Do you remember what it ended up costing you? Just wondering if it's comparable or cheaper than the ones Cabela's offers? I assume they come raw, not powder coated? Thanks

Mine were 350 for the medium sized, but that was a few years ago and the prices go by the cost of aluminum sp it may be different. They have a price list, go to boydswelding.Com
They come bare aluminum, so make sure to use alumaprep or something along those line before painting
