just curious as to what you guys are shooting
I am sold on the Hevishot shells. Our group
shot them exclusively this season and we had
very few cripples and could not have been
more pleased

I shot what ever is on sale this season I shot Rio 3 inch 1 3/8 ounce BB, and Herters from Cabelas and really liked the 3 inch #1 load it preformed and patterned very well. I kill plenty of ducks and geese I am just looking to spend less than 10 dollars a box on shells.

I shoot black clouds. Partially bc I got a good deal on a case. What's your guys opinion on them? I've heard good and also heard horror stories. Just wonder if any of them are true?

Hevi-metal is my choice. It is 50% steel/50% tungsten "hevi-shot.

Hevi-Shot is too High.

Hevi-shot is almost 2X more dense for the same pellet size.

It will KILL ducks not cripple then chase.....shoot, chase, Shoot, shoot......Chase. SO, is it more $ per box? yes but I shoot less shells.

Use an open choke and kill out to 40-50 yards with #4s.

I have killed Canada geese at 35 yards with #6 Hevi-metal. DOA. LOTS OF PELLETS = head shot. Prefer #2s for geese but #4s work for both.

7.5 lead works good for teal.

From that response I take it the 7.5 shot advice I read on a Louisiana sportsman message board was bad info. I'll probably get some heavy teal ammo instead. I hope I don't make that mistake (shooting a wood duck during teal days), this is my 1st season. I got a new duck commander teal call the other day, I plan to try it out next month on Raccoon Creek WMA, hopefull the teal frequent that area.

Assuming your not joking.

Lead is illegal to use on any waterfowl.

Watch some video of Blue wing teal hunting. They don't fly like or sound like Woodies.

It can happen to kill one by mistake better to wait and be sure.

Back Ridge Ammo makes their nontoxic with ITX shot. He converted me from black cloud last year and I wont be looking back. Think you will be hearing a lot from them in the next few years! Also made in Tennessee.

Disclaimer I do sell Back Ridge now, but only because I got setup after trying them.
